JUST THINK a Minute!!!

India  is one of the top ranked countries with regards to a youth population and a utopic picture is been created that this would be one of the reasons why our country would be one of the super power in years to come.

But the underlying question that the policy makers are ignoring or putting under the blanket is

Whether this Population is capable enough to carry forward this responsibility,

DOES IT HAVE THE REQUISITE SKILL?

We all have been accustomed to learning the by - hearting way. In our system the focus is more on scoring marks, topping the exams rather than enlightening ourselves in the brightness of KNOWLEDGE (this also is a reason that we have one of the highest numbers of student suicides, which counts to about one student committing suicide every hour).

Interestingly, the method of imparting knowledge and developing skills was born on our very motherland in the system of Gurukul. But it has gone in the realms of darkness in today’s age where education has become a full thronged business activity.

The corporates say that the B – Schools are not teaching what is required from the industry. But if we take a closer look at the B – Schools the students there are also equally responsible.  A B- School is a place where you have to be like a sponge absorbing all the possible knowledge that you can get and be inquisitive to new things. But it is of a major disappointment that the students carry their graduation type mind set and run after marks. Yes it’s true that by - hearting can pass you an EXAM with flying colours, But IT IS KNOWLEDGE THAT WILL SUFFICE YOU FOR THE ENTIRE LIFE. But this simple algorithm is not accepted by the minds of our so called Managers (who later fail in the eyes of the corporates).

This mad race after marks makes them indulge in unethical practices but they don’t realize that they may have passed the exam but have failed in a larger perspective of life.  These are our future managers who can never become leaders which our country desperately needs.

The whole point of view of this article is not about maligning those who indulge in these practises but to make people aware that there is a major problem in our system.

Our system is just following the GIGO principle of garbage in and garbage out, where the need of the hour is for the system to be like a potter moulding future leaders. The education system should be such that it becomes skill based from the start so that we don’t just create SSC HSC graduates but at that young stage we actually create future engineers, doctors, painters, architects, managers etc.

Yes I agree this is not easy and requires a huge amount of investment in infrastructure but if we don’t invest now then we would be actually disinvesting our FUTURE.

It’s time to wake up to this reality and take steps to live in a country which generates Leaders to make it a real Super Power.

WHY NOT START BY RESHAPING OURSELVES  ;)
