TIRANGA… Our Pride Or Just Formality ???

‘Yaar khadaa reh, shant reh, kaha jaa raha hai?’

‘Kya zarurat hai ye dikhavaa karne ki jab mere dil mein Hindustan hai’

These words are becoming more and more common these days. People don’t have the time to spare for their country, and the excuse is always, country is in my heart why to show off. These people forget that it’s not show off but a mark of respect for the Anthem of our country. These people forget that while they are living their lives in their cosy homes, someone out there is fighting all odds to just keep the Tricolour hoisted high up in the sky, that soldier is braving temperatures from -50 to +50 degree Celsius and still standing tall for the national anthem twice a  day, with his beloved Tiranga.

Is his beloved Tiranga, not ours?

Do we just remember our nation on 15th August and 26th January?

The above questions notify a sad state of affairs for us Indians, but are true. Majority of us are born after Independence and sadly only a handful of us really know its importance.

Ask the importance of being, an Indian to the Pakistani Hindus who have fled Pakistan to seek refuge in our country just to be alive.

Ask the importance of being an Indian, to Afghanistan Citizen who even now resides in the fear of The Taliban.

Or even to the citizens Egypt, Iraq, Israel who live in the constant fear of death.

We are lucky to be born in this great country which is not only economically and politically stable but also has a rich cultural heritage which lacks in most developed countries or the so called Super Powers. But unfortunately, we have started to look down upon our country, our Mother.

Here I have no issues with our so called NRI brothers earning dollars or any other currency. They do repatriate a significant amount back to the country, but our mother India would be happier if her sons and daughters come back and contribute in mainstream economy of the country. What we need is reverse brain drain. Not that, people here are less capable but NRIs who were born in this country certainly owe something which can’t be equalled by even millions of dollars.

What is more frustrating is that some of our citizens who go on a short visit abroad come back, endorse the West way of Life, forgetting that all their life before their visit was lived happily on Indian terms. These are the people who would not dare to litter on their visit abroad but don’t mind spitting on the roads of our country. When you can respect a foreign nation, where you have spent just a few days, where does the respect go when it comes to your Own country where you have spent and are going to spend your Life?

In recent news is the formation of the 29th State in the country, Telangana. I don’t endorse nor refute this decision by the so called High Command in Delhi, neither do I want to hurt sentiments of the people in that region. But some things become stark clear to me and its not about the obvious “VOTE BANK POLICTICS”, it is more about us. We have become more regional than national. The so called patriotism is sadly not directed towards our nation but more towards our region. These seeds are somewhere or other sown by the politicians but it’s in our hearts that these bloom. It is frightening thought then where will we as a NATION be if we keep on fighting within ourselves?

Our NATION is currently facing many threats like the incessant infiltration from across the border, growing Chinese aggression, Economy which is under stress.  In the present scenario we should be giving a UNITED picture to the world and not one of “INTERNAL DIVIDE”.

Bhagat Singh had once said that, he only feared that, “The WHITES WILL GO and BE REPLACED BY BROWNS (INDIANS), but the man on the street won’t feel much difference. These so called leaders will fall back upon the BRITISH strategy of DIVIDE and RULE and the common man will be used to fulfil their crooked ambitions, and that will be the DAY OUR COUNTRY WILL BE LEFT TO DIE.”

These words sound so true in the current context of INDIAN POLICTICS, which just focuses on filling up personal coffers and POWER politics.

But not everything is gloomy, because we are still there and so is the LOVE for our MOTHER in our hearts. We need to get above all the games played by the Politicians and VOTE in a rational manner. We must not VOTE for a party but for the representative who would stand for us in the Parliament or Assembly. These days there are websites which give details about candidates who are standing for election in our AREAS. It’s important for us to know who they are, their educational background, experience in SOCIAL SERVICE (not politics), their promises and manifestos. Only after doing a detailed study should we choose are representative.

Yes I do agree things won’t change in a day not even in may be 5 years, but these are seeds of change which will BLOOM into a beautiful tree whose fruits will be enjoyed by Generations together. What decisions we take today will have far reaching effects on the FUTURE GENERATIONS of India. It’s about time we stop being myopic and rise above all regional and local shackles to think once about our MOTHERLAND.
It will not require us to do many things, just respect our country, stand united against communal forces or rather those who spread this virus. Please do VOTE and vote for the most deserving candidate irrespective of party confines. Remember, we are young and the future of this great NATION is in our hands, along with all our constitutional rights just be aware of this RESPONSIBILITY and act accordingly.

Lastly whenever our NATIONAL ANTHEM is being played kindly stop all your activities and give it the respect it truly deserves, if not for self certainly do it for the soldier who may be is of our age or even younger protecting our borders.

May God Keep Showering His Blessings on this Great Country. Jai Hind.
